Hangzhou Bay Bridge



It is the third longest cross-sea bridge of the world, which is as long as 36km and designed according to the standards of dual six-lane highway with designed speed of 100km/h. It’s service life is 100 years. The north bridge is a diamond-shaped double-pylon double-cable cable-stayed bridge with steel box girders. Its main span is 448m and navigation standard is 35,000 tons. The south bridge is an A-shaped single-pylon double-cable cable-stayed bridge with steel box girders. Its main span is 318m and navigation standard is 3,000 tons. The bridge has created six worldwide or domestic records. The quantity of steel used in the bridge is 7 National Stadiums, while, the quantity of reinforced concrete is equal to 10 National Grand Theatres, which can resist hurricanes. BRDI has undertaken the design for 32km of the bridge and design review for 4km of the bridge. In 2011, the bridge was rewarded the Second Prize of the National Awards for Progress in Science and Technology.
