Cable-stayed bridge

Yiling Yangtze River Bridge

It is the first single-plane triple-tower prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge, which is located in Yichang, Hubei Province. It is a bridge connecting south and north banks of Yichang. The bridge is about 7.6km away from the downstream of Water Control Dam of Gezhouba Dam. The river below the bridge is about 800m wide with the maximum depth of 23m. The bridge was constructed according to specific conditions of the channel in bridge site. The design of single-plane triple-pylon cable-stayed structure was proposed for the first time. With the main span of 2x348m, it serves as the top among its type in the world. The bridge is as long as 3.246km with designed load of Grade 20+ for cars. It has 8 continuous spans with the length of (38+38.5+43.5+2x348+43.5+38.5+38)m. The main bridge is as long as 936m and wide as 23.0m, which has been built with 4 roadways and 2.0m-wide sidewalk on each side. The cable plane in the center is as wide as 3.5m. The bridge is honored with Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize and The Luban Prize for Construction Project.
