Arch Bridge

Chongqing Chaotianmen Bridge

It is the largest arch bridge in the world. Located at the intersection of Yangtze River and Jialing River, Chaotianmen Bridge has a total length of 1741m and main span of 552m. It is double-deck with dual 6-lane and two sidewalks above ; dual light rail and reserved 2-lane below. The main bridge is a (190+552+190)m half-through steel truss continuous tied arch bridge. The bridge has four spherical bearings that can be twisted and rotated to resist the external force due to earthquake, bump, wind and flood, which make sure that the bridge has 100-year service life. The bridge has passed strict  ultrasonic flaw detection, which proved that it is the most capable bridge with the loading of 14500 tons. It is also the first bridge adopting the most difficult construction techniques to build the arch first and girder later with railway and highway functions.
